Researchers from SRON and TU Delft have published the reference framework for their DESHIMA 2.0 spectrometer on the ASTE telescope in Chile. Although it has been collecting data since 2023, this laboratory analysis provides the missing key. Astronomers can finally verify their raw observational data and turn it into concrete discoveries about the early universe.

Assembly of Demonstration Model for X-IFU camera is complete
SRON is responsible for building the camera for the X-IFU imaging spectrometer onboard the NewAthena X-ray space telescope. A latest Demonstration Model has now been successfully assembled in SRON’s cleanroom and is mounted into a cryogenic test setup which cools the detector stage to a temperature of 50 milliKelvin.
SRON and partners develop vibration damping for cold optics of the Einstein Telescope
SRON is part of a consortium that will develop vibration damping of cryogenically cooled optics for the future gravitational wave detector Einstein Telescope (ET). The collaboration has now received a grant of € 1.375.000 from the R&D scheme technology domains ET.
