Core Values

  • Groundbreaking: We pioneer and explore the frontiers of knowledge, application and processes. In doing so, we go further than others have ever gone.
  • Committed: We stand by our organisation and anticipate developments in science and society.
  • Reliable: We do what we promise. We are honest, open and meticulous. And you are welcome to hold us to this.
  • Connecting: We focus on collaboration and the bigger picture. We are therefore open and bring stakeholders, expertise and agendas together.

Open Data

NWO-I and its institutes are committed to 100% Open Access. This means that all publications written (in part) by NWO-I staff are immediately available as Open Access at the time of publication.

SRON researchers share scientific publications, software and datasets from (space) instruments and experiments as Open Data, after publication. The SRON page on Open Data contains the data we make available, as well as further information about our data stewards who assist researchers in making their data accessible. You can also read more about Open Access on the NWO-I website.

Privacy

At SRON, we consider privacy to be important. At the same time, personal data are necessary for certain operational processes of the NWO-I Foundation, of which SRON is also a part. Our joint privacy statement can be found on NWO-I.nl. It sets out what personal data we collect, how we process it and for what purpose.

Diversity, Inclusion and Equality

We aim to be an inclusive and diverse workplace for our talented staff. Everyone is different. A variety of different talents and qualities strengthens our organisation and broadens our perspective. Diversity makes us strong and innovative. It enriches our organisation. We want everyone to feel at home and be able to develop in a fair environment. Read here how we put this into practice within NWO-I and the institutes. SRON is also a member of Workplace Pride.

Digital Accessibility

At SRON, we are gradually improving the digital accessibility of our websites so that they will meet the accessibility requirements for Dutch (semi-)governmental organisations. SRON expects to have updated its accessibility statement by 2026, based on the latest audits of this new website.

Desired standards of conduct

At SRON, NWO-I and the other institutes, we want people to respect each other’s personal boundaries. To ensure an optimal working environment in which everyone can feel safe, the desirable behaviour is to act with integrity, respect and professionalism. We do not tolerate harassment, aggression, violence, bullying or discrimination in any form. In the event of an incident, staff should contact their manager, HR or an internal confidential advisor. Visitors should contact their host or the head of SRON HR. Conference participants should contact the organiser(s) or the head of SRON HR. Read more at NWO-I about the code of conduct and the confidential advisor’s guidelines on desirable behaviour, the complaints procedure and about the National Hotline SafeScience.

ANBI Status

Anyone who supports space research in the Netherlands and wishes to contribute to it can do so by donating to NWO-I-SRON. NWO-I, and therefore also SRON, which falls under its umbrella, has the status of a Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI) for the Tax and Customs Administration. With ANBI status, donations from private donors to NWO-I are tax-deductible for income tax purposes. You can find more information and the ANBI form at NWO-I.
