SRON has a nanotechnology laboratory in its cleanroom in Leiden for the manufacture of detector chips and optical patterns on a nanoscale.
Etching, lithography, vapour deposition, sputtering, deposition
The chips and optics are designed by nanotechnology specialists, in collaboration with technology researchers and opticians, among others. In the nanolab, we can vapour-deposit, sputter and deposit superconductors, metals and dielectric materials in a high vacuum; lithographically process photosensitive layers; and obtain layer structures using advanced etching techniques.
Control and cutting
The nanolab has extensive testing and control equipment and equipment for cutting end products. Watch the video for details about the facilities.
