SPICA/SAFARI consortium meeting

Plenary sessions

For this SPICA collaboration meeting we will be providing remote participation trough the University BlueJeans system. This systme is primarily intended to support shared lecturing between two or three remote lecture halls, we will now be the first to attempt using it for potentially many more remote participants. The system is not unlike Zoom or WebEx - view on the presenter and his/her presentation, two-way audio and the possibility for shared apps (like presentations). Also the way to start is very similar; following the link you get the choice between installing a local client and using browser based participation (we did not actually test the latter option).

Many of you have (some) experience with these kinds of systems, and also I am sure many of you have some feeling for the potential negative side effects of an overly (audio) active remote participant... so please mute when you are not speaking, and be aware that people can see you... Should you forget to mute, a moderator in the auditorium will (be able to) do it for you. There is also a chat channel in the application, so you can also silently give comments or requests to moderator.

During all sessions in the main auditorium - i.e. Tuesday afternoon through Thursday the following link can be used to remotely connect: https://bluejeans.com/948115590

To the right are some pictures showing the screen layouts you can expect to see if you are connected. As with other systems like this you will have quite some freedom to configure your own screen layout.

If you want to install/test things before the meeting you can use the following link: https://bluejeans.com/111 you should then get the right screen to start from

Note - we did some testing and are quite confident the system will work, however should problems occur...  we probably will be quite busy and likely unable to do any real-time trouble shooting.  So if you have problems do send me a mail, and we'll have to try and sort the issues out outside of the main meeting hours.

Splinter sessions

All the rooms where splinter sessions are held have remote connection possibilities, here however we would not like people who have not been explicitly invited to the splinter to participate remotely. Please be in touch with the splinter chair-persons if you need to et connecteds.
